Freeze Frame!

 photo image13_zps64a48e1e.png

Time to Ponder yet again.  You know the drill... I post a prompt that has multiple meanings and we get see what you write! Add you post to the linky and wait for the magic!!

(If you want to send me words that you would like us all to ponder - please feel free to do so!)

Today's word is FRAME(you can always grab the prompt early by visiting the Pondering Page

Of course the first thing that came to mind was the old song Freeze Frame - which really has to do with old fashioned picture taking when photos were captured on film.

But that is not the first thing that came to my mind when I created this prompt. I had been watching a show where someone was framed for a murder. Now why is that word relevant there? Does it mean you are putting someone inside a little box (or a frame?)

The most popular use for this word is what you put a picture in to display.
There are standard frames, you know the boring ones.

Then there are the embellished ones

AND then there are the frames that actually send messages:

What were your thoughts on FRAME?

The journey continues

This post is linked up to Two Shoes Tuesday where the prompts this week are cover or show

Two Shoes Tuesdsay

continued from last week (if you missed it go here)

Bruce had found cover in a tiny crawl space under the helm. His sister Adriana had crawled way up under the bow of the boat thinking it was a perfect cover to ride out the storm. Their parents had stayed together in the cabin wrapped around each other for comfort.

No one knew how long that storm lasted, it felt like days. When the seas had calmed all that was left to show for the storm were the downed mast, the missing riggings and gaggles of dead birds on the deck. Bruce was the first to surface and he called down into the cabin for his parents. Hearing nothing he ventured down the short ladder to investigate.  The interior of the cabin was in much worse shape than the deck of the boat. Broken dishes and glasses, pot and pans in a state of disarray and clothing strewn evereywhere. He searched for his parents and found nothing. That did not make any sense. Hadn't they taken cover down there? Where could they be?

Blankets of words

Today's word is BLANKET  (you can always grab the prompt early by visiting the Pondering Page

This word popped into my mind on a foggy day when I realized there was a blanket of fog outside. Interesting how that word is used for that. The most typical use of the word blanket is something you find on a bed, but then when I put the two different meanings together I figured out that maybe a blanket is just a cover.

I have my favorite blankets and my children have theirs as well. sometimes they are really quilts, not blankets at all.

And then there are the blankets you put over a horse - I wouldn't want to sleep under one of those!

How about you? what does the word blanket mean to you?

Write a post and link on up!

Stuck Together Forever

Bruce looked at himself in the mirror and all he could see was contempt. "Looks like we're stuck together forever," he said out loud to the image.  He hadn't always felt this self loathing. In fact at one point in time he was actually a carefree, happy man. But those days were so far removed from his memory that at this point in time he actually felt stuck in his life.

When Bruce had grown up, he wanted for nothing. But then the accident happened and his whole world changed. The family (Bruce, his sister and their parents) had chartered a small boat to take them on the trip of their lives. His parents were celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary and they wanted to share it with their children. They often joked about life had changed when they decided to take the plunge and be stuck together forever. Life was good!

Then, the boat went adrift, somewhere in the middle of the ocean. They had no power, no radio and no way out. Days passed and his father assured them that they would be missed and someone would come looking for them. Days turned into weeks. No water was left on the boat, the only food they had was whatever they could catch. Both his mother and sister were very weak. The night the ocean stirred up it's fury was the worst. The boat was tossed and turned and the wind was pounding. They each took shelter to ride out the storm. .....

to be continued.

Today's word is TOY  (you can always grab the prompt early by visiting the Pondering Page

When I was coming up with the words for this month I was also shopping for a present for my grandson's second birthday. I went to Toys R Us and I have to say I was at a loss!  What happened to the old fashioned trucks and cars and trains they used to sell?  I ended up getting him Bruin Push N Go Vehicles - Dump Truck - Babies R Us - Toys"R"Us
a truck for him to "Push" and Play... but it really wasn't what I was looking for.

And then of course there are all the dog toys I end up buying over and over again that for some reason my grandchildren enjoy more than the dog!

But Toy can also be used as a verb - I will toy with your emotions.  To me that just means mess around, which I guess makes sense seeing as how toys are used for play!

What are your thoughts?

Clear as dawn

Everything looks clearer in the dawn. It is a new beginning, each and every day. For months on end the nights had been the only calming feature in his life. That was the time when no one could force him to join in a conversation, or ask stupid questions, like "How are you feeling today?" or "Are you doing better today?"

He was sure there wouldn't be a better feeling day for him anytime in the near future. Six months into his new life, the time of day altered and he realized that sleeping past dawn was now a thing of the past. So rather than fight it, he would open the curtains really wide and welcome the new day. After a while he ventured out to the roof to see the dawn from a different angle.

The dawn became his friend and the nights were just a hinderance to what lay ahead - the dawn of a new day.

He supposed it was time to finally answer all those questions with a, "I'm feeling hopeful today" or "Yes today is going to be a great day.

Everyone, everywhere needs the chance to have a new beginning. In his case, it was every day!

Don't leave me!

Today's word is LEAVE  (you can always grab the prompt early by visiting the Pondering Page

"Leave me alone!" How many times have you heard an unruly teenager say that?

My favorite time is when my son-in-law get leave and I get to see my daughter!

I leave for work every morning

I do not leave dishes in the sink - it drives me crazy!

Of course there are all sorts of different leaves on plants and bushes - but we never use that word for them as a singular (wonder why?)  OH I know.... it is a leaf!!!

I can't stand it when I have to leave a good book right in the middle of a really good part!

How about you? What do you think of with the word leave?
