SWS - Over There

The grass is greener over there
And then you go over there

The next possibility awaits you there
And then you get over there

Is it human nature to want?
Or is it greed to improve?

Retire - Really?

Two Shoes Tuesdsay
I am joining my friend Josie for Two shoes tuesday
Her prompt this week is retire or reward

Working full time since the time he was eighteen, he could not help but think about what would happen when that magical age appeared and he could retire. He had seen his grandfather and his father before him work long hours to provide for their families and when the time came to retire they passed within a year. They had been conditioned to get up every morning, go to work until after dark, get home and do it again. He had vowed not to make the same mistake; yet at the age of thirty eight he had already been working for twenty years and did not know a different life. What was the reward for working so hard? Death? He did not think so.

When his first child was born, he was at work.
When his second child was born, he was at work.
When his third child was born he was at work.
That is when something inside of him broke. What was life really all about if you could not enjoy the famly you were bringing into the world? He knew he could not quit his job and still provide for his family, but what if the provisions became smaller and he enjoyed them instead?

Switching jobs at the age of 45 is never an easy thing to do, but he did it - for the sake of the family.

When it came time to retire he had three loving children, a wife and a grandchild on the way. His reward for working all those years turned out to be a loving family - not a large pension. And he felt like the luckiest man on earth!

Last Coffee Chat until Fall :(

over at Time out for Mom  Les posts a prompt for her Tuesday Coffee Chat. We all grab coffee and have an old fashioned gab fest.
Today the prompt is: Turn Offs.  What makes you go "eeeewwww."

This one is easy for me... definitely too much cologne or perfume. You know the kind of person I am talking about... the one who enters the room way before their personal being enters. The type of person who uses so much 'odor adherent' that you want to gag when they are next to you! I love certain perfumes, but even when they are used in excess I cannot stand the person who is wearing it.

Another "eeeeewwwww" moment comes from the people you are talking to and the stench from their breath makes you literally gag. Is it possible that these people do not know that they have bad breath? Wouldn't their mouths taste funky?  Just sayin'

Anyway... This is the last Coffee Chat for a while and I am just pouring out my love for my sista!

What makes you go eeeeewwwwww?

Can you catch?

 photo image13_zps64a48e1e.png

Time to Ponder yet again.  You know the drill... I post a prompt that has multiple meanings and we get see what you write! Add you post to the linky and wait for the magic!!

(If you want to send me words that you would like us all to ponder - please feel free to do so!)

Today's word is CATCH  (you can always grab the prompt early by visiting the Pondering Page

Well if you're anything like me and you like fish you are always looking for the Catch of the Day! Around here it is not very exciting, but if I lived in Alaska, I'm sure it would be salmon most of the time. My favorite catch is fresh Sea Bass, but it is not in season very often.

Of course there is Catch when it comes to ball games... football, baseball, soccer, etc.... Not my favorite.

There has always been the saying that if you catch a good man don't let him go.... I guess I missed that lesson!

Or how about a catch phrase? Like when I was young, "You Deserve a Break Today" was a catch phrase. Do you know what company it was for?
Can you name any other catch phrases?

And then there is that game of cat and mouse - you know "Catch me if you can!"

I love reading your linked up posts on your take on my words.

If you have any suggestions for future ponderings, please let me know.

In the meantime, Happy Pondering!

Summer

Two Shoes Tuesdsay

I am joining my friend Josie for Two shoes tuesday

Her prompt this week is summer or storm

Summer is not my favorite season
I do not like being warm
However it is fun to be outside longer
as long as the flies don't swarm.

Summer is not my favorite season
A/C is not the norm
But getting some color on my skin
Makes me feel a better form

Summer is not my favorites season
I'd rather it be fall
When the wind is brisk and cold
And hot chocolate is for all!

Saturday Leaps

Took a big leap of faith
Most of it came through perfectly
But one part was a failure.

Gave notice last Thursday at work
Start new job in 7 days.

Let's hope this leap is successful!

Watch me!

 photo image13_zps64a48e1e.png

Time to Ponder yet again.  You know the drill... I post a prompt that has multiple meanings and we get see what you write! Add you post to the linky and wait for the magic!!

(If you want to send me words that you would like us all to ponder - please feel free to do so!)

Today's word is WATCH  (you can always grab the prompt early by visiting the Pondering Page

I don't know about you, but I still love having a watch on. I know I can use my phone to tell the time, but a watch just looks so nice.   I have been looking for a long time for the perfect watch. I know in mind what I want it to be....
Not being a flashy person, I could never see myself wearing something like this:

And then of course there are Watch Dogs - the vicious kind:

or the kind that you have that sits on your couch and just barks!

Then if we switch to word to a verb you can watch all sorts of things:
Movies, Television, children, neighbors, etc.  One of my favorite things to do is go to a mall and just people watch. I love to make up stories about them!

How about you - what does watch make you think of?

Write a post, link it up and let's see what everyone has to say!

Happy Pondering!

Pretend

Over at Two Shoes Tuesday, Josie posts two words that we can use together or individually and then sits back and watches the fun roll on.

Two Shoes Tuesdsay

Today's words are Pretend or Pop

Pretend it doesn't matter
     Tomorrow it will

Pretend it doesn't hurt
    Tomorrow it will

Pretend you are happy
    Tomorrow you won't

Pretend you are in control
    Tomorrow you won't

Pretend this is the way it is supposed to be
    Tomorrow you will realize

All the years spent pretending made you who you are today!

A good book...

throwing some love in the direction of my sista.

Have you ever had the kind of connection with a blogger buddy that you know has impacted your life? Sort of like you are in a family and know so much about the other one?  Well, that is the way it is with me and Les. I am positively sure this wonderful person is my little sister!  Anyway I digress.... over at Time out for Mom  Les posts a prompt for her Tuesday Coffee Chat. We all grab coffee and have an old fashioned gab fest.

Today the prompt is: Finish the following:    You know a book is really good when _________

I have a list for this one!

1.  You don't want it to end because you are in love with the characters
2.  You think about what is going to happen when you are in the middle of reading it.
3.  Life comes to a screeching halt when you are reading.
4. But most important: The story and characters remain with you long after the last page is read.

Here are a few of my favorites:

How about you? What makes you know a book is good?

Fire it up!

 photo image13_zps64a48e1e.png

Time to Ponder yet again.  You know the drill... I post a prompt that has multiple meanings and we get see what you write! Add you post to the linky and wait for the magic!!

This is the last of the two part series given by Rory over at Time out For Mom
(If you want to send me words that you would like us all to ponder - please feel free to do so!)

Today's word is FIRE  (you can always grab the prompt early by visiting the Pondering Page

The one use for this word that I hope I never see is:

I have gotten one of these - however I have been verbally let go.... anyone know why these are always on PINK paper (hence the name Pink Slip)?

There is nothing like a rip roaring fire when you are camping or hunkering down at home during a cold winter

But I like to think that I can put a fire under someone to get them to do something. This works especially well with small children. (You know, bribery!!)

What's your take on this word?  Join the linky party and let's see!

Happy Pondering!

Refuge for everyone

Two Shoes Tuesdsay

I have been a bit distracted in the last couple of weeks; however I am back and swinging!
Today over at Josie's House it is time for Two Shoes Tuesday.

Today's words are ring or refuge.

Hope you enjoy the story:

She was afraid, but she valued her children’s lives too much to ignore the signs. If she didn’t do something and something quick, there would be no salvation coming their way. In the middle of the night she snuck into their room and grabbed everything she could shove into a duffel bag. All their favorite clothes, toys and whatever else she could carry. She hid the bag under the bed and when came home in the morning she went around the corner from where he was sitting and slid the duffel bag under the seat of the car. Sneaking out of the house with the bag was just the beginning. She had to pretend all was okay as she gathered the children and placed them in their car seats for their planned visit with family. He never suspected a thing.
She sought refuge at the only place she knew would not turn her away; her childhood home. All of the brothers came in from around the country to show their support and throw the ring of family around her and her children.
Some people aren’t so lucky; and others don’t have the courage to do it.
EVERYONE needs to have a safe refuge – even if it is a dog house!
