Yesterday is but a memory

Those who don't remember yesterday are deemed to repeat it.

There are so many cool sayings about yesterday, but the truth is that yesterday is what makes us who we are today. I would love to think that at the ripe old age of 54 all my bad yesterdays are behind me, but history has taught me that just when you think things are going great someone drops a lemon on your head. You can either be sour about it or turn it into lemonade.

When I was but a child - I was not happy
When I was in my teens - I was not happy
When I was in my twenties - I was living for someone else's dreams
When I was in my thirties - I discovered hell
When I was in my fourties - I spent more time on others than on myself.
Now that I'm in my fifties - I am doing what I think is right - the hell with what anyone else thinks! and you know what? I'm happy!

Pondering Rivet

 photo image13_zps64a48e1e.png

If you're new to this site, I post a word for you to ponder that often has multiple meanings. Please write your thoughts and link up so we can all see!
Happy Pondering!
Today's word is RIVET  (you can always grab the prompt early by visiting the Pondering Page
I have been building a lot of new things in my house...
and in the old days REAL furniture was riveted together... but that is not the reason I chose this word.
I have found many things lately riveting.
First and foremost:
My grandchildren -- and there is a third one who has not actually been captured by her grandmother on film yet! But you will see her soon!
And then there is my roommate and bestest friend whose antics every single day make me adore her more
And then of course we cannot forget those riveting shows I have become addicted to:  (and these are just a few of them!)

So... please let me know what you think of with my word choice this week and add your post to the linky!
Happy Pondering

Tuesday's Spot

Joining Josie2Shoes for Two shoes Tuesday
Two Shoes Tuesdsay
Today’s prompt is Spot or Save

She was pregnant with her second child. The baby had just turned two last week and she was scared. Scared that she wouldn’t love another the way she loved the first. She was scared that the first child would not love the second child.

These were new feelings for her. When she was pregnant the first time she didn’t have these fears. Then she wondered how she would take care of a baby; would she know what to do. What if something went wrong? But now she knew that her maternal instincts had kicked in and that taking care of her baby was natural.
What this poor young mother did not understand is that a child holds a special spot in your heart and there is endless room for those spots. They are not saved for anyone else, just your children and grandchildren.

Three years later when she was pregnant again these fears did not reappear.

Time to ponder....
If you're new to this site, I post a word for you to ponder that often has multiple meanings. Please write your thoughts and link up so we can all see!
Happy Pondering!
Today's word is HOP  (you can always grab the prompt early by visiting the Pondering Page

The reason I used this word today is because of that very cute
bunny that plays a big part in the Easter celebrations.

BUT I would like to remind you all that those bunnies are living creatures and if you choose to purchase one as a gift, realize this is the gift that keeps on giving (and taking!)

The truth of the word hop though is that I really think of hopping

that is something I did not do very well as a child - but I can tell you I am better than my grandchildren right now...(that's not saying much though). I used to love playing hop scotch - anyone remember that one?

Another use of this word is a dance - in the 50s they were called sock hops (not sure why - they look like they are wearing shoes to me!)

What do you think of?

Tuesday's Magic

Joining Josie2Shoes for Two shoes Tuesday

Today’s prompt is Magic or Move

Well…. This opens up so many ideas for me. Personally I just moved completely out of my comfort zone. Sold my house, quit my job, and moved to a city I had no knowledge about all to be nearer to my kids and grandkids. Now let me tell you about the magic that has involved.

I see my kids every weekend if not more. I see my grandkids every weekend if not more. I got a new job (not loving it yet, but I can always  find another one), am renting a house that both I and the dog think are great. So this Move was a complete leap of faith (and let me just say I don't hold much credence in faith!) and it worked out perfectly.

Not only that, but the biggest reason is that my son is getting married on May 3rd - in my new backyard! Now this is he son who has the adorable little boy on my header. They had not planned on having a baby..but life has different plans for us than we expect!

So do I believe in Magic! Yes and no... I think we make our own magic. There are trials and tribulations in life - some harder than others - and it is something within us that allows us to survive and come out the other side still standing. I'd say that's pretty magical.

But the most magical thing of all: Babies!

Pondering a Novel

Happy Pondering day people!   photo image13_zps64a48e1e.png

I hope you all had time to absorb (hey that's a good one!) today's prompt and have great things to say.

If you're new to the game, I post the prompts on the Pondering? page and on Thursday I write a post and add a linky for you all to join.

Today' prompt is Novel

Now I know you would probably think the first thing to jump into my mind would be a novel - a book - a great story...but it wasn't.

Actually I think this is a novel idea - which to me means bright, new, upbeat.  Watching children see things for the first time is novel
And then of course there are novelties - which mean different things to different people.

How about you? What does novel mean to you?

Hop along with me

It is very difficult for me on Tuesdays... You see two of my most favorite people in the blogging world host a meme on Tuesdays... Come on...couldn't one of you move this to Wednesday or something??
First there is my sista by another motha - Les...aka Rory Bore - she hosts a chat every Tuesday with a different topic. This week I could NOT pass up on.
I am NOT my Mother!!!! and thank you someone up above for making me see the wisdom of my ways and not the errors of hers.
First - I ALWAYS put my children first
Second - I have raised them with a voice and they have the right to use it
Third - Their emotional well being is very important to me
Fourth - I love to surround myself with them and their lives
Fifth - I am the grandmother to their children that they never had
I suppose you are asking - doesn't she have some redeeming qualitites? Honestly, I don't think so!
THEN there is Josie -
Two Shoes Tuesdsay
Josie and I have walked the same path and have somehow come out the other side still with our positive attitudes! Go figure
Two Shoes Tuesday also hosts a prompt or a word every week and this week it is Grateful or Grow

I have so much to be grateful for..

First of all, I am NOT my mother!!!
Second, I have my health
Third, my children and grandchildren have their health
We all have a roof over our head and food on our tables.
Sure, we have bills and we barely make ends meet, but who cares when you are happy?
We live and Grow each and every day and that is what makes us human. I would hate to be in a stagnant world.

Hop on over to both of these memes and meet my friends!

A change is coming....

I have had many suggestions to post the pondering prompt early so I could expect more participation... hint, hint, hint
So you will see a new page called Pondering?
I am working on creating a badge, but for right now you can at least get the prompt early.

And keep watching... this blog is definitely a work in progress..

Also, I had a great weekend with the family and somehow or another I will start posting pictures!

Have a good week.

Pondering?

Good day Thursday!

In the past I hosted a meme called pondering with a purpose - it was really just a way to give a single word prompt and see what became of it.

I have been requested to start this up again.

So today we will do the word MUG in honor of a few of my favorite people.

Go ahead and link up a post if you'd like and I'll get this format down within the next couple of weeks.

When I think of the word mug the first thing that pops into my mind is a coffee cup (obviously Les!)
It used to be that a mug was just that... a mug

But in today's world a mug is more of a statement:
An expression of who we are
OR: a mug is a baking dish! :

But does mug mean anything else to you?  Of course if you live in a rough neighborhood a mug is not something you drink out of but rather something you live through...

If you live in the British Isles, a mug is a fool

and then what about a mug shot???

You too can do this!

Two Shoes Tuesdsay

Two Shoes Tuesday has a theme today of Attitude or Anger or "A"

I am a huge believer that a positive attitude opens you up to positive things. I try very hard to not surround myself with negative people.

Hope you enjoy this:

A             Ability to affect those around you
T              Tough to be positive in hard situations
T              Tenacity to push forward
I               I like to stay positive no matter what!
T              Too many people always see the negative
U             Understand how you can control certain areas of your life
D             Don’t let others keep you down

E              Everyone has the ability to change their own attitude.

this is what I saw driving into work this morning
